250 War
Two-fifty. Dua Lima. These are the important acronym for
manufacturers around the world and us in Malaysia too. Infected by Kawasaki’s success, others want a
piece of pie too.
Particularly in Malaysia, a
segment which dominated by a group of green Ninjas, now trying to be
assassinated by its envy counterparts.
Naza started this war with its army of Blade. So sharp till they bleed
the Ninjas in 2013. Sharpen they did with N5. Espionage they will with fully
faired N5 soon. But was it enough to stop the silent crouching Ninja?

Spirit of Ninja is fight and
continued they are with fully faired single cylinder Ninja SL and a forthcoming naked Z250 SL in
its hidden heir in Segambut prefecture. A
perfect combination of Ninjas? I can tell it will. Honda’s CBR and SYM T2 must be worried.

Iwata based and its cousin in
Nippon, Yamaha also want to break this stronghold of Ninja by its forthcoming R25.
A nicely done faired parallel twin with R6 styling cues definitely will
win KL fashion show. Even Nora Danish could not resist the temptation to sit at
the back of your R25. Damn, our fellow
Indonesian got it first. Luckily, we
could have ours too as test ride was done recently on our soil. Please do not
confuse yourself with Redza Motorcycle V1 250R.

Rumored 250 Triumph still far
away and faired KTM RC390 cannot be on the same line due to its capacity, but still it looks
gorgeous than Neelofa. Meanwhile, Suzi
Malaysia seems reluctant to be in this war.
Well, they might have done some homework and decided to play it safe by
becoming a UN peacekeeper.
So, choosing the right 250cc for
you might become a tough mission now. My
advice is to know your mission objective.
Your usage, riding preferences and basic cost to maintain should be your
enquiry list. Ask the shop its suitable
cruising speed, EO capacity, price for normal wear and tear such as brake pad,
sprocket set, tyre, air filter, oil filter and body panels too. If it may not differ too much, then trust your instinct and go ahead. Just forget what others have to say.
